Shields MarketPlace: Primary OEM Vs Re-used Case Study
An environmental assessment was undertaken by Zerevo for the greenhouse (GHG) emissions of the products sold on the Shields MarketPlace software platform. The study aimed to quantify the difference between the circular reuse model of products sold on MarketPlace and manufacturing telecoms products from the original equipment manufacturer (OEM). It was found that there was a mean average emission reduction of 16.83kgCO2e/kg product, between the two models for the products analysed. The reduction is due to the mitigation of the raw material extraction and processing into telecoms products that are involved in the primary OEM model.
Zevero’s research found that there was on average an 89% CO2e/kg saving for every product re-used by Shields MarketPlace under the system boundary used.
