Celebrating the retirement of our longest-standing employee Glen Terry

After 39 years of dedication, Shields wishes our longest-standing employee Glen Terry a happy retirement and the best of luck in his future.

In an age where employees switch jobs frequently and loyalty seems to be a thing of the past, Glen Terry’s story at Shields is truly inspirational. Glen joined Shields on the 28th of September 1983, making him our longest-serving employee with 39 years, and 6 months, of dedicated service.

As we look back on Glen’s journey, we are in awe of his commitment and dedication to Shields. From the day he joined our team, Glen worked primarily in the Telecom Services division, where he helped customers decom and safely dispose of network assets. Glen’s passion for the circular economy and his dedication to environmental sustainability has made him an early pioneer in this field.

Glen has been a constant presence at Shields, having seen many changes within the company’s history since it was formed on August 16, 1979. Through it all, Gordon Shields (founder) and then Glen Terry have been the biggest constants at Shields.

Glen’s work ethic has been exemplary, and his can-do attitude has been infectious. There was never a task too big or small for Glen, and he always went above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction. Glen’s calmness and ability to handle difficult situations with ease have been an asset to the company, and he has coached and guided younger members of our team with patience and grace.

Glen’s dedication to Shields has earned him the trust and admiration of his colleagues and customers alike. Our founder, Gordon Shields, summed it up beautifully when he said, “The most important thing in life is trust, and you could trust Glen to take responsibility in any situation. He is always true to his team and true to the business – a great guy.”

As Glen begins a new chapter in his life, we want to express our gratitude and admiration for his incredible service to Shields. We will miss his infectious energy and positive attitude, but we wish him all the best for the future.

Glen has much to look forward to, and we are excited to see what he will achieve in the years to come. He can finally spend more time with his family and loved ones and enjoy his hobbies without the pressures of work.

Glen’s journey at Shields has been truly remarkable, and his story serves as an inspiration to all of us. In an era where job security is uncertain, Glen’s dedication to Shields and his unwavering commitment to his work are a reminder that longevity and loyalty still have a place in the modern workplace.

At Shields, we celebrate our employees’ achievements, and we take pride in their successes. We believe in fostering a culture of inclusivity, respect, and support, where employees can thrive and grow. We hope that Glen’s story will inspire others to follow in his footsteps and stay committed to their work and their teams.

As we bid farewell to Glen, we want him to know that he will always be a part of the Shields family, and he is welcome back at any time. We wish him much love and luck in his future endeavours, and we thank him for his 39 years of dedicated service.
